We updated and added on to this existing farm home. We were able to bring all the appliances and fixtures in the home up to date to take advantage of new energy efficient products. As we designed the addition we focused on livability and flow through the home.
We designed this home to look like a post and beam structure but built with conventional lumber to help the client’s budget. The craftsman styling of the home include a large basement and open floor plan, great for entertaining. With a HERS score of 46 this home is 50% more efficient than a normal stick built home.
This Insulated Concrete Form (ICF) home was a marriage of traditional design in the front and new contemporary styling in the rear. A focus on design, energy efficiency and building best practices put this home first in local and global residential construction competitions.
This home was designed to look like an older farm house but have all the energy efficiencies of today’s products. The basement is a Superior Wall system with 2×6 exterior walls on the 1st and 2nd floor. To finish the envelope we used a ‘flash & batt’ insulation system
